When to visit belize

Instead of the four you may be accustomed to, Belize has just two seasons. The dry season, December through May, has average daily high temperatures range from 74°F/24°C (in January) to 85°F/29°C (in May). Temperatures may vary a few degrees colder the further north or inland you travel, or a few degrees warmer the closer you get to the coast or Southern Belize.

The “rainy” season, June through November, is slightly warmer with average daily temperatures from 79°F/26°C to 86°F/30°C. Don’t let the name of the season deter you from visiting Belize during this time.  Since it is the ‘low season’ for tourism, attractions will be less crowded and prices are generally cheaper. Plus, unless there is a tropical storm to contend with, the rain usually passes in an hour or two, leaving you with the majority of your day to explore!  Also, during August, there is a break in the rain known as “mauga.”

Temperatures rarely ever fall below 60°F/16°C. The turquoise blue waters of the Caribbean Sea are warm for swimming all year round with an average temperature of 81°F/27°C to 84°F/29°C.
